Peppermint Jim has developed a new line of mint products that celebrate organic farming practices and sustainability...from body care products, to handmade candies, to farming tools.

If you are a person who looks to use and purchase products that help to promote the idea of organic farming practices and the idea of sustainability; then I would like to introduce you to Peppermint Jim and his products.

I first met Peppermint Jim back a couple of years ago in person in Michigan. He’s had an impact in Michigan where he helped to save his family’s heritage mint farm from foreclosure. He did this through hard work, and with the help of loyal customers. Jim believes in using organic farming practices that help build up the soil and protect it from poor farming practices that harm the earth with dangerous chemicals and destructive, or careless techniques that don’t look beyond the season’s current harvest.

I have to say that I was impressed with the man’s knowledge not only of those issues; but also, the intensive passion he shares for mint farming and for supporting struggling independent producers who are trying to make a living in a very competitive world. He’s done this by not compromising his faith or his belief in doing things in such a way as to honor God’s creation. He does his best to educate others and to provide products that promote health and well-being for the consumer as well as the environment.

In fact, Jim supports Southern Arizona Green Chamber of Commerce and Mrs. Greens World Care to encourage green practices in communities and businesses. The Tucson Arizona community is familiar with this way of thinking and it is a great place to connect with like- minded people.

In the May edition of Guideposts magazine you will find an article on Peppermint Jim and the story of his legacy from the role that his family’s heritage mint farm played in his professional growth; to the place that he is in now and, the direction that his experiences are leading him to, in the future. Don’t miss it…get the May 2011 edition of Guidepost’s magazine to learn more about Peppermint Jim and his life partner, wife Lilian and the role that their mint based business will play in the forward thinking communities who are wise to a greener and more sustainable world.

Jim has taken his knowledge, passion and purpose to Arizona and is introducing community members and loyal customers to his new line of products. His commitment to sustainability is contagious and he educates others to this way of farming. He is an encouragement to other farmers and independent producers of consumer goods; to do what they know is right and to have an opportunity to provide a living for themselves by bringing products to the marketplace that envelope all that they believe in.

You can see Peppermint Jim’s line of pure mint oils, body care products, farming tools, his handmade candies and goodies as well as his soil rejuvenator which feeds plants from seedling to bloom/harvest. You can find out more about what’s good for you and your family at Peppermint Jim

Video cameras are everywhere & understanding their manuals isn't for everyone, but a program has been created to simplify video editing with training tutorials.

It is no secret that video is such an important part of our everyday lives these days. People in their personal lives are shooting videos with their camera phones, their flip cameras and their digital recorders of every size and description. Life is flying by and no-one wants to miss a minute of it. With families spread out over the country…grandmas & grandpas, aunts and uncles, mothers and fathers…and friends can all be a part of those precious moments. That doesn’t even address individuals who use video for business; which increasingly is important to online marketing/advertising and branding.

Businesses who use video to get more online traffic find it to be an effective tool. Visually connecting with your market is one of the best ways to catch your customers interest. In fact, your competitors are probably already using video to their benefit. Therefore, I am sure that you can see the importance of being able to harness the power of video editing.

In fact, video is used for connecting individuals together for business, family and for entertainment. So, it is important to know how to, not only capture those moments on video…but, to be able to know how to edit those videos effectively & professionally; and, to preserve them in formats that are useful to the increasingly technological world that we live in.

Understanding how those cameras work and how to render and upload those videos can appear to be overwhelming. Reading manuals isn’t for everyone…some people learn better from training tutorials and this program called Video Editing Simplified, VES, is done in a wonderful way that breaks down tips, techniques and transitions or special effects into usable videos that actually make it easy to understand.

Each of these 40 training tutorials are from 2 to 14 minutes in length. They show you what to do with the files and how to edit them to make them interesting and to smoothly showcase your videos in a way that accomplishes your goals whether it be for preserving personal family moments, entertainment, or for business purposes. Check out the VES program and see if it doesn’t provide you with the information that you need for editing your digital videos; this program can make you look like a technical genius.

Individuals do all kinds of work for the love of God. What type of ministry or missions do you do in your efforts of bringing God to those who are hurting or suffering in the world?

People do many things, for the love of God. There are those who feel that they have a specific calling in their lives to live and accomplish a great mission, or purpose. I’d like to underscore that by saying that we each have been born to praise God; and, to do the great commission which is; to bring the “good news” of Jesus, God’s son, to those who do not know him so that they may have an opportunity to accept him as Lord and Savior of their lives. By doing so, and repenting of their sins…committing their days and nights to living according to the word of God and it’s instructions; they will be used by God to accomplish many things in their lifetime.

I believe that just being aware of the world around you and noticing where the acceptance of God is lacking and doing your best to be of service in some way; of bringing a light or help to those who are in need, is a ministry itself. Some have a pull on their hearts to teach, preach, do missions work, or evangelize. There are others who are drawn to a particular effort of outreach which may be to take Bibles into areas of the world which have little or no access to the word. Then again, there are those with an online ministry to edify or build up disciples such as the Live Sticky movement which encourages people to spend a portion of their online time being dedicated to bringing awareness of God to those that they impact. These are all ministries that are needed.

A ministry might mean that you take meals to someone who is home-bound, lonely or spending time with someone who is depressed. It might mean providing comfort and help to those in poverty, a hospital/jail setting; or it could be a position of raising funds for someone to go out and do missions work. Some of those ministries can be dangerous; but still, God puts a calling on those individuals hearts.

Today in the news there is some sadness which highlights that statement. In recent days, there have been four Americans held hostage, on a yacht, which were hi-jacked by Somali pirates allegedly. It basically is a form of human trafficking…to hold humans against their will in the hopes of making money off of them. There was a military warship that was tailing them and as the shots rang out, the Navy warship took action capturing and killing the pirates.

Today, unfortunately the news says that all four American hostages were murdered by the pirates. The yacht was owned by Jean and Scott Adam and they had two passengers on board, Phyllis Macay and Bob Riggle. Jean and Scott often traveled distributing Bibles around the world on their yacht.

They knew the risks of traveling this part of the world where pirates have been wreaking havoc on ships traveling through the area. Still, they were committed to doing what they loved to do and felt called to do. This required tremendous courage on their part. They believed in more than just life here on Earth and it is a terrible loss to those who knew them and loved them. May God comfort their friends and families during this time of grieving. They sacrificed their lives to do what they felt called to do; many people do not understand that kind of commitment. It is a love that goes beyond the general human attitude of thinking only about oneself.

Did they want to die…no, I am sure they did not set out with the purpose of loosing their lives. There are many examples of people who have lost their lives for Christ. I believe that God has welcomed them home. They faced this danger knowingly…but it is still a tragedy in human terms. Spiritually, God will deal with those who took their lives.

There are many parts of the world which are hurting and struggling with war, with natural disasters, with political unrest and with spiritual warfare. Those areas of the world have people in need; just as there are people suffering and hurting in your own local neighborhoods and countries. Whether you feel the call to do missions work, teach/preach or evangelize in person or online…know that lives are being affected and changed for the good.

This is important work that you do, wherever God places you to do it. It is important to pray for those who set about doing the work of God…no matter where they do it. There are forces at work intending to persuade Christians to stand back and let the world take care of itself. That is not what God asks of us; be about the business of God. Be an encourager, support ministry in any way that you can. If it is working with children, in administration, or in actively pursuing those who don’t know Jesus…find a way to be in service.

I have friends and family who are doing amazing things because of their love of God. There is Friends Like Us who work with children with cancer and their families. They provide chemo bears to the pediatric patients that they work with…as well as providing gifts for the patients siblings. They talk with and support parents of those patients. They often send blankets from another organization called Layers of Love and a book on living with cancer from an author that they work with. Please visit them and support the work that they do. These are all ministries at work, in my humble opinion, because they show love and help people who are hurting and in need of some sort. This is just a small sample of people in my circle of influence.

My daughter recently went to Haiti and worked in an orphanage where the love of God is at work trying to improve the lives of those they touch. I intend to do a series of blog posts soon about some of the work being done there. Here is a link to the Haiti Foundation Against Poverty through which she felt called to work on a recent missions trip. http://haitipoverty.org/Updates.aspx

I just want to recognize those who are about the business of doing the work of the Lord. Thank you for the sacrifices of your time, your money, and your efforts. Never forget that the time is short and that God is coming soon. He alone knows the day and the hour…so when you get weary or feel burdened; remember that the life that you connect to God will have the opportunity to go to Heaven rather than the destination of Hell, a place of eternal suffering. This reason alone is why God gave us his word in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life”.

What type of work do you do for the kingdom of God? What do you feel called to do or share? Are you actively involved in some kind of outreach ministry? Have you ever felt in danger while doing your ministry work? Will you tell us about it here? What do you do for the love of God?

Friends Like Us is a nonprofit organization looking for business sponsors who will help support their efforts to give chemo bears to children being treated for childhood cancers.

Friends Like Us is a wonderful nonprofit that reaches out to families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer. What they do for families goes over and above just sending those children a cuddly bear to hold when they are scared, lonely and needing something to cling to while they go through treatment for a disease that they don’t understand; even though, Friends Like Us does do that too.

The extra mile is what this organization does provide. They often listen to a parent, of a young cancer patient, express their fears, anxieties and questions about what to expect when cancer hits their family. Mark and Deloris Bailey, founders of the organization know what it is like as they have been in that position when their son was diagnosed and treated for cancer. So they created Friends Like Us to meet the needs of young cancer patients by providing them with a chemo bear.

This chemo bear comes with a medical bag which has tools that doctors and nurses can use to help explain treatments and procedures that the young child may be having to go through. It is a wonderful tool. This chemo bear even may have a port just like the child and can have it removed in a bear clinic when the child has his or her port removed. In the meantime, the bear can be of service when the child is at it most vulnerable going through tests or long lonely nights in the hospital.

Because they are a nonprofit they must get their funds through fund-raising and sponsors. It costs approximately $550 dollars for them to get 100 bears manufactured to be given to children. Lately they have combined efforts with some other groups to add books about cancer, musical cds and blankets that wrap the child in warmth. All of this is done in the name of healing and supporting patients while they are in the battle of their lives.

So if you are a business, a church or an organization that is willing to be a sponsor of Friends Like Us and donate one order of bears to their cause you can contact Mark Bailey at (419) 557-8543 info@friendslikeus.org . In exchange for that donation of 100 bears, they are willing to send you a bear with a t-shirt that says Friends Like Us , we helped make a difference, a card shipped with each chemo bear that says generously donated by “your company, church or organizations name on it” and three months of advertising on their front page of their website.

Not only would your business, church, or organization be helping 100 children and their families but you would also be getting exposure for yourself by the willingness of Friends Like Us to promote your name and give you credit for your generosity. You will be instrumental in helping a child to heal and help to encourage a family who is dealing with a major medical crisis. Thank you for considering this opportunity to be a friend to Friends Like Us and helping them to fulfill a vital role in the lives of those who are trying to recover their health and well-being!

Terra Madre conference brings together delegates from around the world with knowledge & skills for producing food in a way that sustains life in a healthy & responsible way.

Terra Madre means Mother Earth. Human life is sustained by the Earth and all

that the environment on Earth can provide. There is a conference

that is also called, Terra Madre, that brings together delegates from all

around the world to share information and practices that are committed

to growing and producing food in a responsible and sustainable way.

This conference has been taking place since 2004. It takes place bi-

annually. This conference brings together all of the wisdom and working

knowledge that supports good stewardship of the Earth and it’s life-

giving components.

Those delegates who participate contribute to the latest knowledge

about sustainability and growing practices which also include scientific

data and sound ecological practices for the relationships between food

producers, growers, shippers, cooks, universities, livestock, fisherman,

agricultural leaders, and scientists themselves.

In recent years there has been a push for genetically modified foods.

However, has been resistance to that movement. Studies are being done

on the safety of such growing techniques on humans, animals and the

environment.

One of my favorite people in Michigan is one of those delegates. You

may remember me writing of the Crosby Mint Farm in St.Johns,

Michigan. I wrote of their farm’s struggle to fight against foreclosure

and their victorious win to keep the organic mint farm, that has been

in their family going back multiple generations.

Linette Crosby is co-owner with her brother Jim Crosby. They farm the

land with growing practices that continue to renew the Earth with it’s

healthy agricultural farming practices. This is not a marketing ploy…this

is how they produce such pure mint products and preserve the soil which

has brought their family such a rich heritage of financial support, family

and relationships inside and outside of their local community. You can see

more about their farm here: http://www.bit.ly/98Wxw4

Linette Crosby is a perfect delegate for the Terra Madre conference. Trust me,

what she is able to contribute is valuable and the knowledge she will return with

will continue to plant seeds in her circle of influence. I look forward to all that

she will share with those people wise enough to listen and learn.

This year’s Terra Madre conference will be in Torino, Italy from October 21

to the 25th. You can learn more about the conference here:

Pure mint oil produced on the Crosby Mint Farm in St. Johns, Michigan matters because it has healing power. It is a company that understands it mission to provide quality mint oil that heals.

Most people are familiar with mint in the form of a tasty tidbit whether it be a breath freshner, toothpaste, candy or maybe even their favorite herbal tea. However, once you know about some of the healing properties of mint you begin to understand that mint matters are so much important than a person realizes. For a person who has seen or felt it’s healing power…they know the value of keeping pure mint oil on hand!

For instance, did you know that mint (be it spearmint or peppermint) has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-spasmodic, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, and is an analgesic? That covers many ailments that a human being can experience. Wow, can you think of any other product that has any kind of equal healing power in it? It is amazing. It also is a very tasty product and one that is fairly reasonable to purchase or to grow in your own backyard.

As some of my regular readers know, I supported a very special group of people who produce mint oil right here in Michigan. It is the Crosby Mint Farm in St. Johns, Michigan. It is a family owned business and it has just celebrated their 99 harvest of mint oil this past weekend. My family and I got to go on a tour of the farm with some very dear friends of ours this past weekend. What a joy to see this farm that is a source of healing power for so many people around the world.

There is Peppermint Jim and his sister Linette who are the owners/operators. Both of whom are knowledgable and very genuine personalities. They have a wonderous staff of mint aficionados. Their small, on farm, store is stocked with products sure to please. From candles, to body spritz, to honey subtly flavored with mint, to bath salts and various sizes of bottles of pure essential mint oils to choose from; a person could surely find a way to utilize the products that they produce.

If you have followed their story you know that they struggled in the last few years with a foreclosure and “lost” their farm to an auction. The farm’s motto is “expect miracles” and through a very interesting turn of events they were able to buy back most of the farm and their family’s home which is a huge part of their legacy of producing mint for 99 harvests. Their faith and the support of customers, media and community have come full circle which is going to allow for a great celebration next year of their 100th harvest.

I have seen the healing power of the pure mint oil that they produce; as my very own mother was relieved of painful shingle sores in her mouth that prevented her from speaking and eating normally, for a period of time last winter. When medicines perscribed for her, by her physician, failed to give her relief…I recommended the mint oil. She applied the mint oil and in a matter of a few days she was finally free from the pain and inflammation in her mouth around her tongue and gums. It was miraculous. It was well worth the small cost of the bottle of oil to see her out of the pain and discomfort she had been in.

There is also the story on Peppermint Jim’s website about a medical mission team that went to Nigeria and helped over 800 people there with mint oil that was donated from the Crosby Mint Farm. You should find that story here: http://www.peppermintjim.com/mint-oil-across-the-world/ That is powerful to me. Now understand, this is pure mint oil not imitation oil. This is oil produced by plants designed and put on the Earth by the master physician himself, God. Why aren’t we using this valuable product more in medicinal ways to promote health and well-being; as opposed to manufactured medications that have so many harmful side-effects?

One of the big things that we heard alot during our day spent at the mint festival is how the Crosbys want to help people. By producing the best quality oil, they can help people to live healthier and enjoy their lives more when they are using the oil to live with less pain, less infection, less inflammation and so much more.

I have to tell you that the people who work on the farm from Carol, to Lori and her sister Kelly, to all of the others we met this weekend at the mint festival; both on the farm and at the booth at the festival, they know their stuff. We went on a wonderful tour and gained so much information that I could have spent a week there, just asking questions and absorbing knowledge from these wonderful people. They were gracious and allowed us to take pictures with them.

Did you know that it takes 1 acre of plant material (mint), or 4 tons, to fill the distillery equipment to make a batch of oil; which can yield as much as 35-40 lbs. This is produced without chemicals or pesticides…and in fact, the Crosby Mint Farm is proud of the farming practices that they use, which are earth friendly.

An interesting day it was for myself and my family. Our friends were just as thrilled with all that we learned. We were priveledged to be present for the filming of a television interview with chanel 6 in Lansing, Michigan, which has been a strong supporter of this farms efforts to not only stay in business; but, to continue the legacy that was started so long ago by Peppermint Jim and his wonderful sister Linette’s great grandfather, J.E. Crosby, Sr; way back in 1912.

If you would like to learn more about the Crosby Mint Farm or the products that they produce you can go to their website here: http://crosbymintfarm.com/ . If you go there, do yourself a favor and purchase some of their products…trust me you wont be sorry. I don’t have an affiliate link to them or any of their products…I just believe in what they do and why they do it. I really believe you will too once you’ve tried some of it!

Jessica Angelique is the creator of Definitive Voices;she is in the running for a grant of $250,000 from Pepsi Refresh Project. She plans to help showcase non profits who help those in need.

Have you ever met an individual that is so rare and special that you could compare them to a valuable gem? Let me tell you about such a person, Jessica Angelique, who has a passionate mission in life to shine a light on life changing non for profit organizations. Jessica has had an interesting life full of ups and downs and because of that she has dedicated her life to making the world a better place. Her heart has been drawn to organizations that help build people up and educate them; which allows them to positively impact the world for the better. She is in need of help to continue to expand her ability to impact the world by educating them through a wonderful opportunity called the Pepsi Refresh Project.

Pepsi is offering up an opportunity to win a $250,000 grant to those who win the most votes in their category. Jessica Angelique is the creator and executive director of Definitive Voices. She is also an author who has written of her life’s journey; navigating through the challenging foster care system into a positive, purpose filled adulthood. She uses her voice to empower people and organizations to be aware and proactive in their communities to build up those in need.

Through Definitive Voices Jessica uses social media to shine a light on individuals and organizations that are doing their best to help people improve the world through education, awareness, and hands on action that is changing the lives of those they encounter. Jessica needs your help by getting you to go to this link and vote for her Definitive Voices so that she can expand her ability to positively impact the lives of others. It only takes a couple of seconds once you register and sign in using an active email and a Pepsi password. Here is the link to cast your vote daily until the 28th of February: http://www.refresheverything.com/definitivevoices .

Jessica hopes to win the Pepsi Refresh Project so that she can take her idea of shining a light on many wonderful non for profit organizations to television thereby gaining a larger audience in which to create an arena to make people aware of the wonderful work that they do, educate people about critical issues and solutions that affect the lives of others, and to hopefully gain support for the work that these non profit organizations do every day. There is great interest in the work that Definitive Voices wishes to do through a 30 minute show that will do exactly that…shine a light on these life changing organizations.

Jessica is thrilled to promote things like Lance Armstrong and the Livestrong Foundation who help people stricken with cancer; or, the I Am Strong Enough Foundation which helps foster children and victims of domestic violence; or, Mary J. Blige’s FFAWN Foundation which inspires women to achieve their best, full potential; or, the Lampion Center which offers counseling in Indiana to individuals and families. She does this daily in her own life through many avenues; however, her efforts could have a more powerful reach if she wins enough votes to get Definitive Voices the grant through the Pepsi Refresh Project. Please register, vote and repeat daily through the 28th of February, 2010. http://www.refresheverything.com/definitivevoices Help give hope to those who need a hand!

We all make decisions in life that affect others. Personal and professional integrity is both given and received. Do we present our integrity in equal measure to the level of integrity that we expect to receive?

Integrity has been on my mind alot lately. The world is full of injustices…but, what if we all presented and expected integrity in equal measure? What is integrity? The dictionary say it is the state of being sound or whole, to conduct yourself honestly, or to adhere to a strict code of moral and ethical principals. When I look at the word, my mind breaks it down into two words…inter grit…or in other words, the internal substance of what someone is made of. We all have different values and morals…so who’s is right?

I think when people are being honest with themselves…through word, thought or action…they know when they are operating with integrity, either in their personal or business relationships. There is no regret, no shame or guilt, no need to stretch the truth or exaggerate a situation, no need for lies…no need to over-hype how something is presented when someone is operating with a responsible personal integrity. People who choose to operate without integrity know it in their hearts. They don’t feel good about their thoughts, their words, or their actions when they make choices that violate their own standards of integrity. It may manifest itself in feelings of shame or regret, or with a general sense of feeling unworthy of accolades/rewards or, even financial success; it is possible that they will have unexplained health problems.

Inner conflict happens when we are at odds with our understanding of what is right and what is wrong. Most of us have a keen sense of what is right and what is wrong in how others treat us, correct? I know I do. Even young children have a strong sense of justice/injustice; they are quick to point out when something is not fair or right.

So, my question is…do we present integrity in our relationships in the same way that we expect others to show us integrity of high value?

I have been reading a book discussing people and their internal conflict about what they should do with their time on earth; as far as, a job or a purpose in life. One particular story troubled me. It was about a man who lived in a financially depressed area of the world. He had difficulty finding and maintaining a job. He took a job with a casino. At first, he was just a little uncomfortable with the idea of it…gambling. As he worked and collected his pay check…he became desensitized to the environment that encouraged people to bet/gamble money that they didn’t really have to waste. He comforted himself with the idea that there were no other jobs where he lived so he continued working there.

As time went on, he faced his inner conflict about the integrity of working for a place that disregarded the fact that gambling went against what he believed to be ok; until he heard his co-workers making fun of an elderly man who was weeping at one of the gaming tables, having lost thousands of dollars that he did not have to lose. He was disqusted with them and told them to stop making fun of this man and his tears of desperation. They then chose to make fun of him. Rather than stand up for what he believed, he ran away…doing nothing, changing nothing. He went to a spiritual counselor, (a poor one in my opinion), who told him not to make any rash decisons, basically, to just hang in there until something different came along. Now this man was telling his spiritual advisor that he didn’t feel like he deserved God’s love or anyone else’s love either; he was wounding himself by not acting on his personal sense of integrity. Was the spiritual advisor acting with personal/spiritual integrity? I don’t think so personally.

Some time passed and the man became ill and went to his doctor…the doctor correctly told him he was depressed and prescribed a pill. Instead of sending the man to a counselor/therapist…he gave him a pill. Was the doctor acting with integrity…maybe/maybe not. Maybe we don’t have all of the facts here…maybe he prescribed him the pill and requested he seek counseling; I dont know. If not…should he have done so to fulfill his personal/professional integrity? In my opinion, yes, he should have sought the source of the man’s depression…not just treat the symptoms with a pill.

What would options look like, to someone in this working man’s position? Stay in the job and hate what you do…and possibly yourself, for what you are doing to earn a living when it goes against your personal beliefs? Quit the job and hope another one comes along? Stay in the job; but, actively look for new employment? Leave the area and find a job in another environment that is more in line with his sense of personal integrity; one that honors what he believes to be true and right? Commute back and forth for an hour or more a day to an area where jobs were more plentiful? Maybe work online to provide financial income for himself? What would be the choice that would fulfill his need for income as well as allow him to honor his beliefs about what is right and wrong?

It could very well be the choice that causes him to sacrifice his personal comfort zone…leading him to leave his home area and move to an area where his choices for jobs were not limited to something that violated his sense of right and wrong. Or, put extra burdeon on his time by requiring him to commute, back and forth, each day to get employment that he could live happily with. He could have chosen to work at home on the computer…or gone to school to increase his ability to get hired by learning new skills. Only this man knows what would have worked best for him and his physical and spiritual well-being.

What did this man do? He stayed working where he felt it was wrong to work and took his pill to make it acceptable to himself. Was that employing the best level of integrity that he possessed? Or did it just allow him to numb himself to the inner voice that was encouraging him to make changes that would allow him to take pride in what he did for a living?

There is nothing sadder than a person who knows to do right and chooses to do wrong because you know that it is not only harming himself/herself; but, possibly others as well. Every choice we make or avoid affects other people. Scripture gives us all kinds of instruction on this area of life. Isaiah 1:17 says, Stop doing wrong, learn to do right, seek justice, encourage the oppressed, defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow. Exodus 23: 2 says, Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd. Making decisions in our lives is important because those decisions affect how we see ourselves and our place in the world; if we want to live with peace in our hearts and minds we must make those decisions that uphold who we are based on our own personal integrity; no matter how difficult those decisions may seem at the time.

Getting stuck in life is no fun;you hear the music of life & you cant stop dancing;but there's no joy in the movement. How do you get where you want to be?

I can’t stop dancing; normally, one would think that was a good thing. To be so moved by a rhythm that your feet are a tapping out a beat, your arms are swaying to and fro, maybe the hands are clapping or snapping along to the pulse of the song; that would seem like joy. But, when the song should end and it just continues playing; and you’re forced to keep moving…that doesn’t feel like joy. It is exhaustion, boredom, and frustration all rolled into one big package. That is what it feels like to be stuck in a rhythm or pace in life. You are probably dancing to the tune of other people’s expectations or you have “settled” for less than you ever wanted or needed in your life.

It is a little bit like the song my husband was taught as a child, “You can’t ride in my little red wagon, the backseat’s broke and the axel’s draggin, chug, chug, chug-a-luga-lug,Second verse, same as the first, a little bit louder and a whole lot worse, You can’t ride in my little red wagon, the backseat’s broke and the axel’s draggin, chug, chug, chug-a-luga-lug, Third verse same as the first, a little bit louder and a whole lot worse”…you get the idea! Nothing changes…it just keeps on keeping on. The sameness just takes on a life of it’s own.

          Or…the children’s song:

This is the song that never ends…it could go on and on my friend, some people starting singing it not knowing what to do, and they’ll continue singing it forever just because, This is the song that never ends…it could go on and on my friend, Some people starting singing it not knowing what to do, and they’ll continue singing it forever….just because…This is the song that NEVER ENDS…………..etc.

Those examples might be catchy at first…exciting in fact when beginning but by the third time around…you get bored, you want to move on…and yet…you feel trapped into the rhythm of it all. You can’t seem to get it out of your head. It is the same in life…whatever you are doing seems great for a time…but, when you feel like moving on and nothing happens to break the rhythm…you feel trapped…you get bored and frustrated. Nothing satisfys you anymore…everything feels like deja vu….been there before and done that. Disappointments and broken dreams seem to pile up in the corner. How do you break out of these patterns? How do you set the wheels of change into motion? How do you restart the passion and the joy in your step…build excitement about what you are doing, where you are going, and how you are getting there during the process?

I think you must start with some brainstorming. Grab a piece of paper and your favorite writing utensil. Open up your mind and your heart. Start a Wish list or a List of Dreams…these are ideas without limits. As soon as a negative thought pops into your head…squash it like a bug. For example…if you have ever had a desire to be something like a window washer on a high rise building (but you immediately throw that idea out because you are afraid of heights…that right there is a negative thought…put the dream down in writing…a high rise window washer) …Whatever your dream or wish is…list it. Maybe it is a desire to be a concert pianist (and you can’t even play chopsticks yet)…list the dream/or skill. No matter how far fetched it may seem…no matter how problematic it could be to make it happen. Put it on the list.

Write down every desire you’ve ever had, or still have, for your life. Then on another piece of paper, write all of the roles, jobs, responsibilities, or tasks that you would love to get rid of in your life. Doesn’t matter whether you really think that you can get rid of those things or expectations…or how inconvienced someone else would be if you were to get rid of those particular items…Write it down. Matter of a fact, write down whatever it is that you feel is holding you back from reaching out and grabbing those dream items from the starry heavens.

Next, put the two lists side- by- side. Do you notice any connections? Do you see any relatable ideas, themes or items? Can you see any connections at all? Is there patterns to the things that hold you back…do they all go back to one area of your life that brings you unhappiness, dissatifaction, anxiety, anger, resentment or fear?

Next you need to grab another sheet of paper and write down any kind of practical solutions that would resolve your inability to build upon your dreams or your wish list…laying a foundation for achieving your goals in those areas. Find ways both big and small that will start removing the obstacles from your path to regaining joy in forward and productive movement again…to feeling excitement in getting out of bed and putting your hands, your heart and your mind to work on the things that make a difference in your life. Can you hear a melody yet, feel the rhythm, or sense a tempo beginning to come together…when you hear the harmony…it all starts to sound beautiful again. Maybe you want to sing along…sway to the music, grab ahold of the emotion of the music and enjoy it just because it makes you smile again.

The biggest joy stealers in life are resentment and bitterness at giving up on your goals and dreams because you don’t feel like you have permission to have them in your life. Give yourself permission. You may just find out that the situations and the people in your life that you feel would not support you in your quest/journey could very well find your bravery, in the pursuit of happiness and joy, inspiring.

Finally, seek God’s guidance from the beginning to the end of your seeking. Ask him to remove obstacles, clear your pathway…and hit you over the head about which direction you should go. Sometimes, we don’t ask him the right questions about his plans for our lives; we are more concerned about our own wants and desires, than we are about fulfilling our assignments or purpose. When we are the most frustrated about our lives it is when he is readying us for change. He has allowed us to feel dissatisfied about where we are…so that we are motivated to go through the struggle in changing our circumstances. When we are in alignment with his purpose for us we will achieve things more easily, they will practically reveal themselves to us in a way that seems almost magical or surreal.

Think about it; when we are comfortable, content or accepting of our lot in life…what reason under the sun do we have to change our course? There is none. So he allows us to feel the discomfort, the prompting in our spirit for something more…something different…something challenging…so that we feel the need to make changes. Look to his leading…listen with all of your mind, your heart and your soul. Don’t just look for the answers you want to hear…listen to his answer, even if it seems farfetched. He goes before us and clears the way when we are seeking his guidance. Our human minds often see no sensible way to make things happen, but if it is his desire for us, he makes things happen in an awe inspiring way. Your true satisfaction could be right around the corner from where you are standing!

If God gave us all of the answers to our questions immediately, and, answered them the way we wanted him to…we would be right back in the same boat that we find ourselves in, day in and day out. We have to feel stimulated, challenged, excited about the future so that we are encouraged to move forward; sometimes against difficult situations. So the next time you feel in limbo, out of sorts and boxed in…think about when you feel that way; what is happening at that time…what would you like to see happen in your life that would open doorways to your true purpose? Now, is there something that you want or need changed in your life? What are you going to chose to do about it?
