I dont know about you…but, I don’t like getting in a rut when it comes to drinks. I like to experiment a bit when it feels like i am drinking the same old thing. I like soda as much as the next person…but, we all know it really isn’t that good for you nutritionally speaking.
If you happen to be diabetic, then you are recommended by those in the know to drink diet sodas; as opposed to regular soda/pop. Well, what you are doing in effect is basically exchanging sugar for salt. Soda’s are really loaded with both too much sodium and, too much sugar. Neither of which is good for you in excess. Many people don’t just stop with one soda a day; restaurants offering free refills only add to the problem. People around the world are loading up on unnecessary calories simply by the things that they drink. It is an area of concern with obesity rates climbing…not only for adults…but, also for our children.
Even fruit juice drinks are loaded with high sugar and acid. It is recommended that children drink them in small amounts and with a straw to reduce the acid residue on their teeth.
If you listen to any number of dietary experts on the pros and cons of coffee you will get a variety of opinions. Some say it is bad for your health and others say, coffee has many benefits. Truly and honestly, i think it is like most things…as long as you drink it in moderation…you are going to be just fine; unless, your doctor advises against it for a specific medical condition.
The thing I like about tea is that it comes in a variety of styles and flavors. So, while it may be tea that I am drinking…I don’t really get bored because, i change it up with different flavors and strengths by choosing the base tea that I am drinking. I might drink black tea, green tea, white tea. You can have it iced, or you can have it hot. It can be plain or it can be flavored with berry flavors, fruit flavors, or even with light hints of floral such as rose hips or jasmine.
If you want to be healthy…drink more refreshing water. Water can come right out of the facet, out of a bottle or you can go all survivalist, and drink it from the source from where it comes…from the ground. Word of caution, these days…you might want to filter it and heat it up to remove any contaminants. All of those previous drinks have 1 thing in common…they are made with water. None of them in moderation is a terribly bad thing for your body as long as you don’t over indulge…just think of it as a fluid buffet…taste it and move on to something else next time around…but always, always…go back to drinking water…pure and refreshing…it is the source of life! Enjoy.

May I suggest you add Gano Excel’s SOD tea to your list of favorite drinks? It is LOADED with anti oxidants, phytonutrients and Reishi Mushroom, a red mushroom that has wonderful healing properties. Besides that, it tastes delicious on its own. AND NO, I DO NOT SELL THIS STUFF!
I remember back in the 70s when we all went gaga for a faddish mushroom tea and bought special dishpans to brew it…well, that got old in a hurry and when I found SOD I fell in LOVE with tea all over again.
If you find water to be boring, add a slice of lemon or lime or ONE TEENY TINY PINCH of sea salt to change the flavor without destroying the goodness of good water. Oh, I’ll spare you the details of good water but even “city” water is better than soda or fructose-laden drinks.
I hate to tell you this in public, but even BEER has a better pH factor. This is NOT an endorsement of “brewskies” either!
You are wise to help your readers understand the critical importance of living in a “No Soda Zone” and I appreciate your efforts!
Hugs,
Connie Baum
I am in agreement with Connie. Gano Excel coffee is not only healthy but it is delicious. My favorites are the Mocha and the 3 in 1. The coffee has over 200 antioxidants because of the ganoderma lucidum from the red reishi mushroom. This mushroom is known as the king of herbs and has been used in the Asian companies for years to treat many diseases. Unlike Connie I am a distributor for Gano Excel and it is the only coffee and hot chocolate that I drink. I love coffee but I also like healthy and with Gano I can have both. Good article Lorraine and you are right about the water. It is the most consumed beverage and the best for us. Coffee is the 2nd most consumed beverage with 1.4 billion cups served daily. I invite you to try Gano coffee.
Thanks again for a good article.
