November 10, 2009 is the date that has been chosen for the execution of John Allen Muhammad; otherwise known as one half of the D.C. sniper team that instilled fear across America in 2002 with the fatal shooting of 10 people and the 3 people who were shot and severely injured.   John Allen Muhammad and his teenaged “son” were the D.C. snipers.  John has been sentenced to death while his son, Lee Boyd Malvo, will be jailed for life for their actions.  The Department of Corrections in Virginia has stated that John Allen Muhammad refused to choose the manner of execution; a choice between electrocution or lethal injection.  Because he would not choose, the state mandates that lethal injection will be the way in which he will be executed, barring any clemency bestowed upon him.

I find it ironic that Mr. John Allen Muhammad chose not to choose how he wanted to die…yet, he felt it necessary to choose not only how his “victims” should die…but when!   Due to his actions, his victims and their families and friends have missed out on seven years of moments together; while he and his “son” have continued to live and breathe.   Every life has value, and Mr. Muhammad had no right to end the lives of those he murdered; nor did he have a right to negatively impact the lives of those he injured or, to impact the lives of those of us who lived in fear, while he chose to terrorize the nation randomly shooting at people, destroying lives.  He and Lee Boyd Malvo showed little to no respect for the lives of others.

He has had seven years to think on his actions, as well as to get himself right spiritually.  I don’t wish death on anyone…however, if the state of Virginia follows through and executes him…I hope that John Allen Muhammad gets real with God and asks for forgiveness of his actions.   It is more opportunity to determine his eternal path; than he and his son gave to those they shot!
