Daniel Hauser is the 13 year old cancer patient who fled his home; instead of pursuing chemo treatments like his physician was urging him to do. He allegedly had tried some chemo but struggled with it and stopped treatment. His family believes in natural, holistic healing treatments that some Native Americans use; namely the practices are associated with a group called the Nemenhah Band. They have a website here: http://www.nemenhah.org . Daniel allgedly was feeling like he was between a rock and a hard place because he did not want to go through the chemo again…and the cancer (Hodgkins lymphoma) was showing signs of growing and causing him extreme pain near his port. It seems as if the tumorsis growing and pressing on that area and causing him pain and discomfort.
Daniel and his mother chose to run away rather than face the forced chemotherapy. That is what people often do when they feel threatened or afraid; who can blame him. His father begged for them to return in the media. It is supposed that they were on their way to Mexico for alternative treatments; although, I dont believe that was confirmed. Regardless they were gone and everyone was worried about them disappearing. However, when a warrant was issued for the arrest of his mother…they chose to come back. I am glad that the family is reunited during this difficult time.
Today, a judge has ordered that Daniel Hauser start chemo on Thursday. Please pray for this family and Daniel’s healing. Not only will he need medical support but the whole family will need emotional support as they travel this journey!

You and I are on the same page, Rainy. I canNOT get this family out of my head or my heart. I, too, blogged about this very thing on Mother Connie Sez.
Our family was traumatized in the same way and our story ended happily. I sincerely hope the Hauser family gets a happy ending, too.
It’s insulting to think that Big Brother thinks he knows best when it is a family’s business to decide how to go about their lives.
Thanks for bringing it up. The Hauser family needs all the loving support it can garner.
Hugs
Mother Connie
